Two To Expand In Victoria (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE. July 31 Two major. British construction companies, each with multimillion pound capital, are to expand their activities in Victoria The companies are: Constructors John Brown, Ltd., a company affiliated with the famous shipbuilding firm of John Brown, which built the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary. Richard Costain. Ltd., a civil construction and development financing company A director of Constructors John Brown (Sir Norman Hulbert) now visiting Melbourne, has also become a director of Stanhill Consolidated. Ltd
He said last night that through joining the board of Stanhill he hoped to help in the channelling of British and American capital into Victoria and Australia "With this in mind, we are establishing a branch of our company in Melbourne” Construction Contracts The second company, Richard Costain. is. in conjunction with Australian companies, tendering for big construction contracts At present its principal function is to channel purely Umud Kingdom capital into Australia and to assist in development planning It recently applied foi registration of an Australian subsidiary. Its Melbourne representative iMr David J Durack) said last night that his parent company was most anxious to introduce British capital into Australian developmental schemes.
