SAUNDERS ROE BOUGHT OUT
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P3J > (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, July » Saunders Roe, the builders of Britain’s Hovercraft or “flytal saucer,” is being bought out by the Westland Aircraft Company* of Yeovil, Somerset, whose main business is making helicopteri The company also has a contract for the manufacture of the Black Knight rocket The Hovercraft—officially titled SRN-I— la the first of its kind in the world. It can skim a foot above the surface on land or water, and was recently tested at the Isle of Wight A spokesman for Westland said: "We shall carry on the development of the Hovercraft In fact we plan to speed it up.” The takeover involves £ 1,700,00# in cash and shares.
