Attack On Young Jockey

The jockey, Norman Garth, aged 22, is in hospital, with multiple head injuiries. Hii cosdition is serious. Police believe the dead mu, Edward James ("Tommy") Perry, aged about 25, a (tablahand, the only son of the trainer Edward Perry, of Balcomba road, Beaumaris, attacked the jockey. They say Garth wag antacked with a 71b short-handled sledge hammer. The motive for the attack is not known. For the last two years Girth has been riding Mr Perry’s horrab in gallops at the old Mentom racecourse, a mile away. At about 6.45 am. today Mr Perry heard his dog barking and howling. Before he beeaim unconscious Garth gasped: “1 don’t know.*’ Mr Michael Neylan, a neighbour, and his two sons, helped Mr Perry to try to revive his M and treat Garth until tbt ambulance arrived.
