TRADE SURVEY OF AFRICAS
N.Z. Promotion Within Area (New Zeaiana Pres* Association) WELLINGTON, July 17. Mr R. J. Inglis, a senior officer of the Department of Industries and Commerce, will visit South Africa, West 'Africa, and East Africa from the middle of next month to make a two-month trade survey. Announcing this today, the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Holloway) said Mr Inglis’s visit was the result of a successful Government-sponsored trade survey of South Africa and East Africa last year. Exports to South Africa and East Africa last year had been double those of 1957. Until recently, Mr Inglis was New Zealand trade commissioner in Melbourne. “The objectives of the survey this year will be to impress upon Government officials, commercial organisations, and individual traders. New Zealand’s continuing interest in trade with the area, and to investigate trade prospects for individual firms," said Mr Holloway. “In West Africa, Mr Inglis will have discussions with the large trading organisations marketing goods of interest to New Zealand exporters, and will have the opportunity of discussing trade prospects with appropriate officials. “Firms who are already exporting, or who would like to export to the area should consult any of the offices of the department as soon as possible if they wish to take advantage of Mr Inglis’s visit.”
