Airlines Seek Lower Fares
LONDON, July 16. British European Airways, British Overseas Airways and independent British airlines will go to the International Air Transport association conference in September determined to press for a reduction in fares. The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation (Mr Harold Watkinson) told the House of Commons this tonight. He said: “What they want ts fare reductions on the European. African and Eastern routes.” Mt Watkinson said the Government hoped to get a much closer Commonwealth link-up. something which might be a first step to a common Commonwealth aircraft policy, as well as a common Commonwealth airline policy.
