Charges Against Chinese , (N.Z. Press Association-Copyright) SYDNEY, July 16. The Chinese first carpenter of the liner Taiyuan had admitted having put the bodies of two dead Chinese into Sydney Harbour, a police witness tbld a Sydney Court today. A detective said the carpenter, Wang Shu Chen, had wept as he told him he put two men in the water. Police allege that tne two Chinese died in a secret compartment in the ship during an attempt to smuggle them and three others into Australia.

Wang pleaded not guilty to having on or about June 24 taken part in bringing to Australia an immigrant in circumstances from which it might reasonably be inferred that the immigrant was intended to enter Australia secretly, or without the knowledge of the Immigration Department Six other crew members of the Taiyuan have also been charged with this offence. They are Ping King Kuo, aged 38, a seaman; Gun Yueng Kwaing, aged 38, seaman; Fu Sing, aged 35, seaman; Kwong Yu Wong, aged 40, seaman; Shin Chin Wong, aged 55. chief steward; and Chin Woo Yung, aged 37, carpenter. Wang, Shin and Chin are also charged with having attempted to conceal a body from the Coroner. The Crown is proceeding, at this stage, only against Wang bn the immigration charge.
