EXHIBITION OF N.Z. ART
Moscow Paper 7 s Praise (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MOSCOW, May 12. The newspaper “Sovietskaya Kultura” has praised highly New Zealand’s fine arts exhibition at the Fine Arts Museum in Moscow, according to the Russian news agency, Tass. The newspaper said: “The exhibition of works by New Zealand artists pleases the eye by its realistic art. “It makes it abundantly clear that realism is the powerful instrument of artistic creation capable of making art the vehicle of unity and international understanding,” the newspaper said. It added: “The exhibition is an undoubted success.” Works by E. Mervyn Taylor, “a master of woodcarving and engraving,” as Tass described him, are among the items shown at the exhibition, which is now being moved to Leningrad.
