AUCKLAND WOOL SALE

Values Firm On Second Day (New Zealand Press Association) . AUCKLAND, May 13. The fifth and final sale of the 1958-59 season concluded at the Auckland Town Hall today with a further offering of 28,324 bales of new season’s greasy wool and 144 bales of wool re-offered by the New Zealand Wool Commission.

Total offering for this flxturee was a record at 55,987 bales. As on Monday, says the official report, the catalogues contained mainly second shear wool and lambs wool with a small quantity of fleece and the usual oddments. This wool was similar in style and condition to that offered on the first day. Competition from a full and representative bench of buyers was relatively keen throughout the day and a little more widespread than on the first day. The Continent was again the principal operator with America showing interest in the second shear wools. Bradford bought sparingly. Few bids were required from the New Zealand Wool Commission in support of the market and there was practically a total clearance of the record offering. • Compared with the . first day prices are quoted as in sellers* favour for fleece wools and for second shear and very firm for lambs* wool and oddments.
