U.S. Wins Final NZ. Press Association —Copyright) NEW YORK, Aug. 18. The United States made a clean sweep today in the American zone final of the Davis Cup against Argentina. Ham Richardson beat Eduardo Soriano, 6-4, 6-2, 7-5; and Barry Mackav beat Enrique Morea 6-2, 6-2, 6-2. This gave the United States a score of 5-0 against Argentina, and sent them into the inter-zone finals against Italy or the Philippines. Sumner Club The annual general meeting of the Sumner Lawn Tennis Club elected the following officers:— Patron, Mr R. N. C. Hill; president. Mr A. J. C. Wills; vice-president. Mrs T. Davidson; secretary, Mrs A. J. C. Wills; treasurer, Miss A. M. Collins; club captain, position not filled; deputy-club captain, Mr T. Davidson; women’s club captain, Mrs M. Williams; deputy-women’s club captain, Mrs R, Arnold; management committee, Mrs O. M. Nicol, Messrs R. Allen, J. Druery, and S. Rapson; delegates to Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. Messrs R. N. C. Hill and T. Davidson; delegates to Canterbury Junior Lawn Tennis Association, Mrs T. Davidson and Mrs G. Guy. The opening day will be on September 13. WINTER TENNIS In the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's Winter Mixed Competition the games postponed from July 5 will be played next Saturday, August 23. and those postponed from August 16 will be played on August 30. —Advt.
