Sub-Centre
The annual meeting .of the North New Brighton sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was held recently. There was a good attendance. Mr Kincaid gave a talk on the beginning and growth of the movement. During the year a ’soldiers’ parcel was delivered, vegetables were prepared for the meals on wheels service, stamps were sold for the health camps, magazines and clothing were delivered to the centre for overseas, mending was done for the men at Rannerdale Home, stalls were manned and collecting was done on market day, the sick were visited and the Anzac parade was attended. A bring and buv sale held in October raised £7O.
A gift of a tea waggon suitably inscribed, with tray cloths and a dozen cups and saucers was made to the centre for the furnishing of the new hall. Donations were made to various causes.
The following officers were elected: president, Mrs Parker; vice-presidents, Mesdames Marriott and Florance; secretary, Mrs R. M. Cook; treasurer, Mrs Brooker.
