NX’s Gift Of Mace

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 18.

The Parliamentary delegation which will attend a special ses•iori of the Western Samoa Legislative Assembly left Whenuapai by air today bearing the silver mace to be presented to the newly-constituted islands governing body. A gift from New Zealand. the mace is emblematic of the flora of Samoa and the customs of the people, as well as their close relationships with New Zealand.

The presentation of the mace will be made by the leader of the delegation, Mr R. M. Macfarlane. the Speaker of the House of Representatives. It arrived from England only 10 days ago. and so far none of the members of the party has seen it. Accompanying Mr Macfariane are Mr R. A. Keeling. Chairman of Committees, and Messrs T. Omana (Government. Eastern Maori), P. B Allen (Opposition. Bay of Plenty), and A. E. Kinsella (Opposition, Hauraki). Mr C. B. Bailey, second clerk assistant of the House of Representatives. is secretary of the delegation. While in Samoa, the members will be the guests of.

the New Zealand High Commissioner (Mr G. R. Powles) The delegates will return to New Zealand on March 26.
