TASMANIAN APPLE CROP IN DANGER
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) HOBART, March 18. The Tasmanian Government has applied to the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) for artificial rainmaking to prevent heavy shrinkage in the Tasmanian apple crop. Because of the dry season apples are not reaching the minimum export size. Trees are carrying a heavy crop
but rain in the next fortnight is essential, otherwise the crop will shrink to an alarmingly low figure. Wharf deliveries are slowing doiyn.
