Situation: A cold front over central districts of the South Island is expected to reach southern parts of the North Island in the morning, and an anti-cyclone should move on to the South Island from the south Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Nelson: Winds becoming light to moderate and variable; some occasional rain or drizzle at first, but weather gradually improving; temperatures rather cool. Outlook: rain developing late in the day. Marlborough: Southerly winds, fresh in exposed places; weather cloudy and cool, with occasional rain or showers. Outlook: becoming fair. West Coast: Winds becoming light to moderate and variable; rain easing gradually from the south and the weather becoming mainly cloudy; cool temperatures. Outlook: fair.
Canterbury: Fresh but decreasing southerly windsoccasional showers, clearing gradually from the south-west; temperatures cool. Outlook: becoming fair.
