RUSSIAN PRESS REPORT DENIED

(Rec. 8 p.m.) MANILA, March 9. Mr Selwyn Lloyd has criticised a Russian press report published in Manila that the S.E.A.T.O Council of Ministers’ meeting is being held at this time to support the Central Sumatran rebels. “I think that remark proves what very wide imagination those who write for “Pravda” have to draw on,” he said. “This meeting has been fixed for months and months.”

He was not against a formal linking of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, the Bagdad Pact and 5.E.A.T.0., but he did not think the link necessary. Britain was a member of all three pacts, which constituted a certain liaison between them.
