Lady Gibbs To Visit New Zealand The Hon. Lady Gibbs, Overseas Chief Commissioner for Girl Guides, Commonwealth Headquarters who will arrive in New Zealand on March 11, is travelling with her husband Sir Geoffrey Gibbs, K. C. M. G., and her 19-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. Since leaving London by air on December 9 she has visited Uganda, Kenya, Southern Rhodesia, Johannesburg, Mauritius, Australia and now New Zealand. The party will set off on their return joruney by sea about March 24, possibly calling at Fiji, and reaching England in midApril. Lady Gibbs has been Overseas Chief Commissioner for seven years and has been an active member of the movement as a Guider (adult leader) and Commissioner since 1923. In 1946 she was awarded the silver fish which is the highest award in the Guide Movement for outstanding service.
During their visit to New Zealand, the party will visit Christchurch, Wellington, Taupo and Auckland. Lady Gibbs will be the speaker at the New Zealand Girl Guides Dominion Council meeting in Wellington on March 18.
