TE WAI POUNAMU -COLLEGE

Founder’s Day Celebrated ‘I thank those members of the honorary staff who have given so much of their time during the last year,” said the chairman of the board of governors of Te Wai Poupamu College (Mr G. O. Greenwood), when Founder’s Day was celebrated at the college on Saturday afternoon. Mr Greenwood also thanked a Christchurch firm for giving the college two new sewing machines. He said that the girls had; made a choral record, and it was expected that it would be obtainable by the public shortly.

A service was conducted by the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan), who was assisted by the chaplain of the college (the Rev. D. D. Thorpe) and the vicar of Philipstown (the Rev. W. C. Arnold). Sports were held afterwards, and the challenge shield presented by the board of governors three years ago was presented to the captain of Mataatua House by Mrs Sullivan.
