TARANAKI CUP

Narrow Win For Anacapri (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 9. The consistent New Plymouth mare, Anacapri, won her third cup race since graduating from hack ranks in December when she scored narrowly but impressively from Drum Roll and Alonsun in the Taranaki Cup at New Plymouth on Saturday. She is the first locallytrained mare to have won the race for 15 years. The Taranaki Cup was the first leg of the double on the opening day of the Taranaki Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. The second leg, the Flying Handicap, was won by the Otaki four-year-old, Conkers King, and the double dividend was £49 3s. Tl?e racing was . held in warm, sunny weather before a good crowd. The track was fast and in excellent order. The totalisator on-course handled £32,644 10s, of which £3779 10s was invested on the double, compared with £25,627 10s on the first day last year..
