INCIDENTS AT KALGOORLIE
Radio Sabotage Suspected
(Rec. 8 p.m.) PERTH, March 9. Police at Kalgoorlie are investigating suspected sabotage of regional broadcasts describing the Queen Mother’s visit on Thursday.
Two breaks occurred —first as the Queen Mother stepped from the aircraft and the second as the Royal car passed though Boulder.
Both the national station and the commercial station were affected by the first break but on the second occasion it was only the commercial station.
The general manager of the Kalgoorlie Electric Corporation. Mr J. Drybergh, said today that a long pole had apparently been used to make the power lines touch. This had moved an automatic circuitbreaker at the powerhouse. Linesmen had found fresh tyre marks beneath the cables feeding the transmitter.
