Gaol Term For Extortion
(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, March 6. Bruce Stanley Enderby, a farm hand of Whangarei, was sent to I gaol for four years and six months when he appeared before Mr J. R. Herd, S.M., in the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court. Enderby, on February 24. pleaded ' guilty to 27 charges of i extortion. i The charges said that Enderby ! threatened to accuse a man of a crime punishable by imprisonment—indecent assault on a male —with intent to extort money from him. The offences occurred between June. 1955, and February, 1958. Enderby was said to have obtained £4244 18s 8d from the man he accused.
