N.Z. DIPLOMA IN OBSTETRICS
Course For General Practitioners
(Hew Zealand Pres, Association) AUCKLAND, March 5.
Entries for the newly-insti-tuted University of New Zealand diploma in obstetrics designed primarily for general practitioners in country areas close on April 1. After six months of practical experience in a recognised hospital and two weeks of lectures, general practitioners will attend a final “brush up" course and sit an examination at the end of the year* A number of doctors have already done their six months at the National Women’s Hospital at Auckland. The post-graduate diploma is to distinguish general practitioners who have an interest in obstetrics, and it will equip them to deal with the common problems which may arise in districts too sparsely populated to support a full-time specialist. The course is particularly to fit doctors to deal with emergency cases. From April 28 to May 2, general practitioners will attend their first diploma lectures at the Na- ■ tional Women’s Hospital. About September or October they will undergo another week of instruction, and before the examination there will be a final week of revision.
