Negotiations With Armour And Co.

Negotiations for the acquisition by International Packers, Ltd., of Armour and Company’s foreign meat packing plants and marketing facilities, including those in Australia and New Zealand, were reported today to be progressing well.

The chairman of International Packers (Mr A. T. Taylor) said in Chicago that a few details had to be worked out.

He said Australia and New Zealand would benefit from International’s increased marketing facilities in the United Kingdom and Europe.

International would acquire Armour and Company’s foreign interests, including goodwill, in exchange for 885.000 . common shares. Each share was valued at approximately 10 dollars. Mr Taylor said International stock holders would be asked to approve the acquisition at their annual meeting on April 24.
