BRITANNIAS FOR PACIFIC RUN
Planes In Service This Winter (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 5. Giant turbo-prop Bristol Britannia aircraft will be flying in and out of New Zealand on a regular service for the first time from July or August, said Mr A. W. Essex, Auckland manager for Canadian Pacific Airways, today. The Britannias will reduce th? tjme for the Auckland-Vancouver trip from 27 hours to 18£ hours. With seating for 100 they will greatly increase passenger capacity compared with the DC-6B’s accommodation for 59. The Auckland-Nandi flight will take three hours instead of five. Britannias are within the wheelloading limits set down for Whenuapai by the Civil Aviation Administration. Mr Essex, who returned from Canada yesterday, said Canadian Pacific has already taken delivery of its first Britannia.
