PORT ELIZABETH TEST

Australia Shows Supremacy (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) PORT ELIZABETH, March 4. Australia showed its cricket supremacy over South Africa today, when it won the fifth test by eight wickets with almost eight hours to spare. Australia lost the toss and no international (earn which has played on this wicket in recent years has won after having last use of it.

Australia, on a particularly fiery grassy pitch, had to withstand a bumper barrage, the like of which has not been seen for some time. After a fighting innings from McDonald and Mackay, Australia led South Africa on the first innings by 77 runs. With no-one having the temerity to forecast just what this pitch would do next, Australia had South Africa out today in its second innings for only 144.
