LIGHT PLANE MISSING
Cook Strait Flight (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 28. A Tiger Moth biplane, with two persons aboard, was this afternoon reported missing in the Cook Strait area. * The plane, which was flying to Stewart Island from New Plymouth, last reported over Paraparaumu airport at 1 p.m., from where it was heading direct for Blenheim. The pilot is Mr S. R. Bethune, of Pukeatua, South Waikato. He is accompanied by his father, Mr J. E. Bethune, of the same address. The Wellington police reported tonight that two Royal New Zealand Air Force Devons, operating from Wellington, and two Aero Club planes from Blenheim, searched the coastline between Paraparaumu and Sinclair Head (five miles south-west of Wellington), in Cook Strait, and in the Sounds area till the light failed. . The search will be continued at first light tomorrow. The Tiger Moth is orange in colour, with purple markings behind .the cockpit. It is privately owned, and registered in Hamilton. It was due at Blenheim at 1.40 p.m., and had only enough fuel to remain aloft until 3 p.m.
