THANKSGIVING DINNER
North American Club The North American Club held a thanksgiving dinner at the Sign of the Takahe last evening. The women of the committee were responsible for the decorations. A centre-piece, depicting early settlers in North America, showing figures harvesting and a minister visiting a log cabin, was specially made by Mrs Alfred Dewhirst. Novelty entertainment was presented by “Clotto, the Musical Clown.” Guests of honour and speakers who included: Mrs G. Dufek. Miss Mary Ellen Dufek/Mr H. G. Miller, patron, and Mrs Miller, Mr and Mrs Whiting Williams. Lieu-tenant-Commander C. A. Sauer. United States Navy, Lieutenant Commander J. A. Henning, United States Navy, Mr W. G. Quirk. United States Consular Agent and Mrs Quirk, Professor and Mrs J C. Garrett, were welcomed by Mr C. L. Shield, the president, and Mrs Shields.
