Funeral Charges
Sir,—l understand that the following are the true facts relating to funeral charges. An ordinary funeral, conducted Monday to Friday, costs from £33 upwards according to distance and services rendered. Additional charges are as follows: cemetery fees. £lO 10s, plus additional £1 10s for holidays, payable to City Council; cremation fees £9. plus £1 5s for holidays; newspaper notices cost Is a line: taxi hire for funerals cost 22s 6d an hour if used for three minutes or 60 minutes: clergy donation, £1 Is. plus transport: nurse’s fee for last offices, £2 2s, plus taxi fares. Funeral directors render a 24hour service. Staff work 40 hours a week and are entitled to overtime rates To keep costs down don't expect funeral directors to provide services after the normal hours. 8 a m. to 5 p.m., Mondav to Friday or ask them to pay the above - mentioned additional charges.—Yours, etc..
