Religion in Schools.— An immediate and unequivocal undertaking that children would be given an adequate Christian formation in the State schools, as of right and without obstruction or breach of the law, should be given by the leaders of each political party, said Mr Walter Otto, president of the national council of the Holy Name Society, in a statement issued in Auckland yesterday. Mr Otto was commenting on the Roman Catholic attitude to the statement on Tuesday by the Rev. P. Gamlen, of the New Zealand Council of Christian Education. Mr Otto said that he was completely in accord with the statement. —(P.A.)
