Parliamentary Reporters Have Own Tie.—A tie of blue-black ink with a crossed silver quill and golden mace has been adopted by the South African Press Gallery Association as their official emblem. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr J. H. Conradie, gave his permission for the use of the mace, the parliamentary symbol. Two South African Cabinet Ministers, Mr C. R. Swart, the Minister of Justice, and Mr T. E. Donges, the Minister of the Interior, are entitled to wear the tie. Both of them have in the past reported parliamentary proceedings while working for Afrikaans newspapers. It is believed that the South African Press Gallery is the first in the Commonwealth to adopt its own emblem.
