Bidding Ends At £7200
A six-roomed house on a section of 36 perehes in Riccerton road, nearly opposite Rimu street, was passed in at £7200 at a city auction yesterday. The property, which was offered on account of Mrs R. A. Rankin, is one of the few suitable remaining building sites in the Riecarton road shopping centre. Bidding opened at £6OOO and there were four bids of £250. before two bids of £lOO. Another Riccarton road property was passed in at another auction at £3850. Buildings on the quarter-acre section include a shop with about 450 square feet of floor space, and a five-roomed bungalow. Bidding started at £3OOO. Two properties in Fitzgerald avenue, each of 19 perches and each with a four-roomed house, but offered as one lot were passed in at £2OOO. Bidding for the properties. which were offered on account of the estate of the late Mr J. Haigh, started at £lBOO. There were two bids of £lOO.
A five-roomed bungalow on a section of 28 perches in Marshland road, Shirley, was passed in at £2500. The property, which is only two miles from the city and close to the shops and new Shirley Intermediate school, was offered on. account of the estate of the late Mrs E. E. Anderson. Bidding started at £2300 and there were two bids of £lOO. A four-roomed bungalow on a section of 21 perches in Ensors road, Opawa, was passed in at £1650. Bidding started at £l5OO and there was one bid of £lOO and one bid of £5O.
When a Long Beach, California, woman was granted a divorcer she agreed to let her husband keep their television set.
