Carrier Refused Exemption From 30-mile Restriction
An application by Charles Reginald Alexander, of Kaiapoi. for a goods service licence, with exemption from the 30-mile restriction, to enable him to carry cordials and aerated water was refused by the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. A. Bretherton) yesterday. Eight other applications by carriers for amendments to their goods service licences were heard. One was refused. The special condition of the Ellesmere Transport Company. Ltd.’s passenger service licence which restricted operation to the period April 1 to September 30 was deleted by the Authority. The company operates from Leeston.
On Leslie Murray Stone’s application, the right to carry passengers was deleted from his goods service licence.
The following applications were also granted:—
James Ryan and Bruce Alexander Selfe, trading as Christchurch Taxi Trucks, for a new goods service licence authorising the carriage of general goods, with one vehicle authority; John Bertram Carr, to change the domicile of his. goods service licence from Dunsandel to Christchurch: William Groom, for the transfer of a taxi licence from Arnold Henry Holmes; Mockett’s Motors.
Ltd.. Culverden. for extensions to two of its vehicle authorities to permit the carriage of general goods; John Brightling. Ltd., for the addition of four vehicle authorities to its goods service licence; John Mair, for an amendment to his goods service licence to permit the carriage of general goods: Charles Edward Loader, for an amendment to his licence to authorise the carriage of sand, shingle and soil for the Lyttelton Harbour Board. Alexander Robertson Syme s application for an extension to his licence to permit the carriage of general goods was refused.
