SPECIAL VOTES IN OTAGO
2300 Cast So Far
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 28.
More than 2300 persons in the seven Otago electorates have already cast their votes in the General Election. They include patients in hospitals and others who come into special categories such as seamen and electors who will have no chance to vote on Friday because of travel commitments.
The lowest return so far is from Otago Central, numerically the smallest European electorate in New Zealand, which has an enrolment of 13.407. Only 40 persons have made use of the special facilities available, compared with 600 in Dunedin Central, which takes in the major hospital and homes within the city. Considerable interest has also been shown by special voters in the controversial St. Kilda seat, the {total there exceeding 500.
