KU KLUX KLAN IN BRITAIN

Threat to Labour Councillor

(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 28. A warning letter from the Ku Klux Klan of Britain has been sent to Mr Alfred Rusha, a Labour member of the Dagenham Borough Council, whose expressed opposition to “anything slightly tinged with colour prejudice’’ was reported in the local paper, says “The Times.” Mr Rusha received the letter after he had been interviewed by a reporter on the possibility of coloured persons moving into new homes in Dagenham.

The letter was headed “The Invisible Empire of Aryan Knights, Ku Klux Klan of Britain. Realm of Albion, Dominion of East Africa.” It read: “We of the Dagenham Klavern, No. 1 Aryan Knight Ku Klux Klan, read with disgust of your condemnation of the efforts of a group of free-born English people to resist the invasion of their homes by coloured immigrants, whose entry into the district would only lower the standard of living for white people. You, as the elected representative of these very people, should be the first to resist this blackfly epidemic. Wc of the Ku Klux Klan won’t forget your part in this revolting attempt on the freedom of trueborn Englishmen.”

The facts were published in the local paper, and its editor subsequently received a letter from the klan urging him to “desist from giving us unsolicited and unwanted publicity in future.”
