Rugby Exciting Win For Wallabies
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) DUBLIN, Nov. 27. The Wallabies today gained an exciting win over a plucky Leinster team in the most eventful match of the British tour so far. The Wallabies won 10-8, but did not register their winning points until there were only six minutes of play left. For 71 minutes of the game they were trailing, and their supporters had almost given up hope when the Wallabies staged their final desperate recovery. Leinster, playing in its first match agaisnt a touring team, sent a crowd of 12,000 wild with excitement by scoring eight points in the first 10 minutes' play. The Australians looked badly rattled when Leinster first goaled from a penalty, and then scored a converted try after a traditional Irish foot rush The Wallabies grimly set about making up this leeway, and some spirited forward clashes followed. Shortly before half-time, a big Leinster forward. Kavanagh, hightackled the Australian Shehad.e a few seconds after the referee (Mr T. Donaldson) had blown his whistle to halt play. Shehadie retaliated w'ith a heavy backhander that flattened Kavanagh. The crowd roared with disapproval, but the referee’s only comment was: "Next time play to the whistle.”
