INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS
The Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Institute of Architects held its annual meeting, preceded by a dinner at the Sign of the Takahe on Tuesday. Guests invited to the dinner included Messrs E. Somers (city engineer). E. B. E. Taylor (Law Society), M J. Graham (Master Builders), J D. Arthur (valuers). A. Christian (surveyors). H. G. Hay (accountants). B. E King (Architectural Association). R. Wilkins (clerks of works), F. W. Shipston (quantity surveyors), and Professor R. J Rastrick (engineer). After the dinner and the departure of the guests the annual meeting was held and the following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr C. B. Wells; vicechairman. Mr J. A. Hendry; secretary; Mr B. P. Julian; treasurer. Mr G. W. Lucking; assistant secretary. Mr D. A. Cowey; committee, Messrs G. P. Sellars, K. D. Marshall, R. W. Taylor, F. M. Warren. G. D. McKimmin. M. J. Moffat; honorary auditor, Mr E. J. Woolf; branch representatives, education. Mr F. M. Warren; provincial council building, Mr J. K. Collins; public relations, Messrs M. J. Moffat P. J. Leonard, S. W. Minson, and J. A. Hendry; Christchurch Beautifying Society, Mr M. J. Moffat; Regional Planning Authority, Mr J. D. Griffiths: Architectural Association, Messrs K. D. Marshall and J. A. Hendry; oral examiners, Messrs J. D. Griffiths, C. B. Wells, R. J. Seward, and F. M. Warren: programme convener, Mr G. P. Sellars.
The Internal Revenue Service in America ruled that a divorcing couple may file a joint income tax return while awaiting the final decree.
