Preferential for other associ'ations and sub-associations will open on December 16 and will close on January 6. H. Johnstone. “How much is this going to net us?” asked Mr M. C. Healey. Mr J. K. Burtt: About the same as before.

“I think this will be the greatest one ever. Hoad is one of the greatest players of all time and he will be a great draw. I think we should be optimistic enough to get just as many persons or more than last time,” said Mr J. Mercer.

Mr J. K. Burtt moved that a publicity committee be formed to handle the publicity for the professional visit. The motion was carried. The publicity committee appointed was Messrs G. E. Atkinson, J. K. Burtt, W. A. Clothier, J. Mercer, F. H. G. Johnstone, R. N. C. Hill. C. R. Bailey, M. C. Healey, E. Biddle and W. A. Dickson. West Coast Visit The standard of play on the West Coast was not very high but P. Vesty, who was at Greymouth, was stimulating interest in the game and the standard should be higher when the next visit to the province was made, said Miss P. Cuddon. She reported to the meeting on the visit by a Canterbury team at the weekend. “Is it worthwhile this association considering in the next few weeks whether we should start our season earlier here in Canterbury?’’ asked Mr A. M. Hatch. “I think we are starting • far too late.” Wellington started its season early on the hard courts, said the chairman (Mr G. Atkinson). It was decided that the matter could be brought up later in the season. An article on a new robot tennis machine was received from Mr W. D. Rawlings, of Wellington. Mr Johnstone moved that the association write to the Trade Commissioner asking for information on the robot tennis machine. The motion was carried.
