PUBLIC USE OF BARRACKS

Approval For Choral Festival The use of King Edward Barracks for a festival by the •*ombined choral societies of Christchurch was approved by the City Council, subject to the requirements of the Christchurch Fire Board being met. Cr. H. P. Smith, chairman of the by-laws committee, said + hal the risk involved was so small that it was one which the council should take, provided the choral societies were prepared to take the risk and to comply with conditions of the Fire Board. He said that similar functions had been held in the barracks *n the past.
