Imports Of Stainless Steel

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. November 26. The suspension of customs duty on foreign imports of stainless steel sheet and plate has been extended until March 31. 1958, by an order in the Gazette. The suspension of the duty on other iron and steel plate Ain thick and over, with the exception of tinplate, has been extended until September 30. The Minister of Customs (Mr E. H. Halstead) said today that this action had been taken after consultations with the British Government because of difficulties in getting these materials from Britain.
