Accident With Old Torpedo

(Rec. 9 p.m.) PORT MORESBY, Nov. 26. A one-ton wartime torpedo, which killed three men at Rabaul yesterday, took off like a rocket while it was being dismantled, according to reports received today. Five other persons were injured. The home of one of the men killed is in New South Wales. He was married with two children. The others were natives of Rabaul. The reports said that the men were killed when they were hit by the torpedo which hurtled through the air -nd landed 200 yards away. It took off when a dismantling party bored into the compressed air chamber.
