Results of the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League’s 1957 playwriting competition were announced by the acting-Dominion president (Miss O. E. Harding) .at Hawera, as follows: All women’s section (judged by Miss O. E. Harding, Wellington): “Parnassus Point” by Marie Bullock (Wellington) 1; “Princess of Navarre,” by Dorothy Kelly (Naenae) 2; “A Little Learning,” by Phyllis Tyne (Hastings) 3. Open section (judged by Mr Frank Newman, Christchurch); “The Closing Door,” by Jean Lawrence (Blenheim) 1; “The Wife of Tomorrow Morning,” by (Miss) M. Williams (Wellington) 2; “Comfort Me with Apples,” by Mrs K. Healey (Dunedin) 3.
Plays for presentation by school children (judged by Mr D. <G. Edwards. Wellington): “A Message for Marianne,” by Mrs A. Glenday (Palmerston North) 1; “The Runaway Apprentice,” by Miss A. A.
