Electric Blankets For Patients
An offer by the South Island Tuberculosis Association to provide one dozen electric blankets for use at Coronation Hospital
was held over by the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday. . A recommendation by the hospital committee that the offer be accepted, the use of the blankets and their success to be determined after one year, was referred back to the committee. Careful thought had been given to the desirability of the blankets from the point of view of the patients. The possible insurance liability from their use had also been examined. Miss M. B. Howard said the board was -dealing with sick people. There had been many cases of burns from the blankets. The Standards Institute had tested many blankets, and had brought down a specification that only blankets with the standard mark should be used.
