CERTIFIED STOCK SEEDS
The Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for certified Government Stock grass, clover, and lucerne seeds. Applications from farmers for these seeds must be made through mercantile firms and must include the name and address of the farmer, the quantity of seed required, the acreage of the individual paddock or paddocks for which the seed is required, and, if possible, the registered number and letter of the area concerned.
Where more than one class of seed is requested the application must state clearly whether the seed is required for separate areas, whether the requirement is in the nature of an alternative application for the same area, or whether different kinds of seed are to be sown together in the one area.
All applications received by May 31 will receive equal consideration when allocations are being made of the seed available for distribution in 1957. If the demand for seed exceeds the supply, preference will be given to applicants who in the opinion of the Department will best utilise the seed available. The range of certified Government Stock seeds for which the Department is now accepting applications is as follows: Perennial ryegrass, short-rotation ryegrass, Italian ryegrass, timothy, cocksfoot, white clover, cowgrass. Montgomery red clover, and lucerne.
