Riccarton Kindergarten

Sir, —lt would be a very grave eiyor to call this kindergarten the LadjL May Kindergarten. This implies that Lady McKenzie was the daughter of at least an earl, which she herself would have been the first to deny. The Christian name of the wife of a knight should never be used prefixed by “Lady”; her title is always simply Lady Jones or Lady Smith. The name for the kindergarten could be the Lady McKenzie Kindergarten or the May McKenzie Kindergarten. I trust this error will be corrected and not left to be yet another monument to our ignorance.—Yours, etc., COMMONER. April 9, 1957. [The president of the Lady May Free Kindergarten (Mrs W. J. McDowell) said the committee had “no comment to make in the meantime.”]
