India’s Import Plan Fails
(N.Z. Press Association (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, April India's efforts to secure a sevejjfe year deferred payment arrangement for imports of heavy chinery from Australia havtf failed, according to trade delegation sources quoted by “The Times.” The delegation iff now in Delhi. A delegate was reported as saying: “Our industrial capacity does not permit it and our financier cannot arrange such credit.” 3E India had found a promising new market for her products in Egypt through the disruption of British and French trade caused by the Suez dispute, “The TimeSj* said. Egypt was buying a whole range of engineering and pharmaceutical products, jute, tea, pepper, and tobacco from India with the proceeds of long-staple cotton which India had agreed to import.
