15 Per Cent. Rise For Harewood

A record number of passengers travelled to* and from Harewood in National Airways Corporation planes last year. Latest figures, for the nine months of the financial year ended December 31. showed a 16 per cent, increase in outward traffic and an increase of 14.7 per cent, inward, compared with the similar period in 1955. The manager of the corporation’s Christchurch branch (Mr J. E. Davies) said yesterday that between April 1, 1956, and December 31, 1956, 47.946 passengers had been bn flights departing Harewood and 49,299 persons had arrived at Harewood. Actual increases in the numbers of passengers carried were 6699 in and 6339 out—a total of 13,008.
