New Cabinet Formed

AMMAN, April 25. Striking back at the political forces threatening his throne. King Hussein has approved a new Cabinet of independents formed by Mr Ibrahim Hashem, an elder statesman who will also hold the Justice portfolio. The new Prime Minister, a lawyer by profession, entered politics as Minister of Justice, became Prime Minister in 1933, and held office till 1938. Since then he has served in a number of governments, and was Prime Minister last October, when Mr Suleiman Nabulsi succeeded him. Mr Samir Rifai, the new Deputy Premier and Foreign. Minister, has been Prime Minister several times before. His last period in office was for fourth months early last year, after the resignation of a government which was reported to favour Jordan’s joining the Bagdad Pact. v
