SHEEP KILLED WHEN TRUCK OVERTURNS

Twenty-one sheep were killed or so badly injured that they had to be destroyed when an articulated double deck truck overturned at the Lismore corner on the Maronan road about 6.30 a.m. yesterday. The sheep were valued at about £4 10s each. Neither the driver, Mr J. Banks nor an assistant with him in the truck were injured, though the truck, owned by Mid-Canterbury Transport (Ashburton), Ltd., was badly damaged. The truck was taking 120 twotooth breeding ewes, owned by Mr Norman Murdoch, of Mayfield, to the Tinwald ewe fair. It was following another sheep truck when the accident bccurred.
