Australian Shares Again Firmer

Australian-domiciled shares were again firmer in business recorded yesterday by the Christchurch Stock Exchange. National Bank of Australasia, Bank of N.S.W., Australian Consolidated Industries, Colonial Sugar, Coles, Waltons, Woolworths and Mount Lyell all recorded advances over previous Christchurch business.

Transactions in these securities comprised most of the business, which totalled more than last year’s daily average. National Mortgage B, cum dividend, had first local business of the year, at last year’s closing price of 7s. Standard Insurance and Forest Products eased slightly. N.Z. SHARE TRANSACTIONS
