Situation —A belt of high pressure extends from eastern Australia to the north of the North Island. A deep depression is passing eastwards to the south of the South Island. Forecast: — Canterbury: Fair to cloudy and warm at first; a change to moderate to fresh south-westerlies with some showers and cooler temperatures is expected in South Canterbury this morning, the change reaching North Canterbury this afternoon. Nelson: Light or moderate variable winds: fair and warm. Marlborough: Fair and warm during the day; a change to moderate southerlies with a few showers and cooler temperatures is likely this evening. West Coast: Moderate south-west winds; fair weather, apart from isolated showers. Outlook: all districts: fair.
