TRUCE TEAM IN KOREA
Spy Recruiting Alleged
Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON. June 11
A defector from Communist Poland testified today that Polish members of the truce team in Korea have used money, vodka and derogatory information to recruit spies and collaborators among non-Communist colleagues from other nations. The testimony, given through an interpreter, at the Senate Internal Security Sub-Committee, came from Severyn Bialer. a former antiAmerican propagandist for the Polish Communist Party who defected to the West on January 31 last. Bialer said that the Polish truce members received from their government special funds in order to get collaborators for other commissioners (neutral nations truce team members)
He said that the money was used to recruit intelligence agents in other delegations. Bialer said his information came from the highest sources, including a General Morsky, chairman of the Polish truce «team.
“Any derogatory information about anyone on the other delegations was collected meticulously and sent to Warsaw for use in the future,” he said.
