L mash street. The surge of power which accompanied the fault is believed to have opened a switch putting out all the street lights in the Merivale district for a time.
The M.E.D. electrical engineer (Mr G. H. Battersby) said last evening that full details of the fault and its location woyld probably not be known until this morning. Although the fault caused a slight drop in voltage it was not causing the department ariv embarrassment, as the load was taken by other cables.
